I am a visual artist and spiritually inclined towards my concepts. I am passionate about my Art, not only weaving it, meditating it but also spreading it, serving it and learning it. I live in New Delhi (Born in 1959) India though brought up in the holy city of Varanasi. Its spirituality has given me spiritual bent of mind that my concepts are based on peace, love and harmony. My journey of creativity started due to my father. I was in 3rd standard when my father spotted my drawings. An art tutor started coming to give me art lessons. When I was in 8th standard I understood that art is my passion for life.
I passed out my B.F.A in painting from faculty of Visual Arts Banaras Hindu University in 1980. After my post graduation in art criticism from M.S University, Vadodara, India. I joined a reputed school as an art teacher in Delhi as now I wanted to be independent. After my school job I regularly went to community art studio (Garhi studio) to do my art practices. I was awarded research grant in painting from Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi in 1986-1987. Every year I participated in group shows to keep myself motivated and updated with the art scene.
I started with my MTV series in which I created abstract form and textures with my visualization. I also started with figurative paintings portrayed with single figure in the midst of naturescape, talking to itself and to God. The figuration in my paintings are shown still in contemplation and meditation, because somewhere deep down they have experienced spirituality. These paintings were based on the concept of Shakti series, Talks to heaven series, Through the eyes of soul etc. I organised my first solo show in 2006 (Through the eyes of soul) at Lalit Kala Academy, India.
After a year Neilson gallery of Spain offered me one month artist in residency. Further I got opportunities to exhibit my works in Paris, Austria, Seoul Korea, and China etc.
I enjoy experimenting with different methods of paint application and exploring new techniques between colours, forms and textures. To explore further into the realm I work in water colour, mix-media, pen & pencil and acrylic colours. I further want to explore my creative by working in large scale murals and sculptures.
