Shikha Tuli
Biographical Info
“I love the human face in all its glorious imperfection. The wrinkles, the smiles, the frowns; it all paints a beautiful picture of a life lived. I find people make the best subjects for my style of photography. I see the world when I capture someone’s feelings and expressions. I look for the beauty in what others see as the commonplace,” says a thoughtful Shikha.
Shikha’s love of photography started over 30 years ago when she was still living in India. She had wanted a piece of jewellery, which was too expensive. Her father instead bought her first Hotshot camera with a note – ” In life, you will want to buy many beautiful things, which perhaps you will not always be able to take away. However, a photograph will let you, and it’s yours to keep for always. Love Dad.”
Those words have never left Shikha and were what ignited her passion for photography. It’s allowed to bring small parts of the world home with her from all her travels. Much of Shikha’s photography has been focused on her home, India. “I love the colours, the people, the culture, the sights, the experiences,” adds Shikha.
Shikha’s photos have featured in several art books including Vibes, Best Of Additions (2012), and World of Art (NY) this year. She has also had the opportunity to feature her photos in the NY Art Gallery, for their Faces of Humanity exhibition.
Shikha concludes, saying, “I am a mother. I am an educator. I am a creator.”
